Child Neurology Consultants of Austin is proud to have assembled a unique team of pediatric specialists—offering our patients diverse expertise in treating the most common and also very rarest disorders. One of our physicians who commands a unique specialty is Dr. Ruy Carrasco, board-certified pediatric rheumatologist, and one of the only ones in the region with vast experience in treating babies, young children and adolescents.
We were thrilled to have Dr. Carrasco join us last year on a part-time basis. Now we are even more grateful he will be with us full-time in our South Austin location.
Dr. Carrasco specializes in caring for young patients with issues in the musculoskeletal system (muscles, joints, and bones), symptoms of arthritis, or another autoimmune disorder. He has a special interest in Dermatomyositis, Polymyositis, Uveitis, and Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis.
He is a graduate of Baylor University and the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Dr. Carrasco was instrumental in establishing the Division of Rheumatology at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. Additionally, he served as the Division Chief of Rheumatology while there and was active in clinical care, teaching, and research.
Dr. Carrasco is passionate about caring for children and believes in allowing the whole family to participate in and take an active role in a child’s treatment.
