Dr. Dilip Karnik is a true pioneer around here being one of the first pediatric neurologist to practice in Austin more than 35 years ago.
He fulfilled his medical training at Grant Medical College of the University of Bombay in India, followed by a pediatric residency at Rutgers University / New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Karnik later completed a fellowship at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and King County Hospital in Brooklyn, where he also served as chief resident.
Currently, Dr. Karnik acts as the director of pediatric neurology at the Starbright Rehabilitation Center, a group providing rehab services to brain-injured children. Additionally, he is an adjunct professor at the University of Texas at Austin and medical director of UTAP, the University of Texas Autism Program, researching treatment options for those on the spectrum.
Dr. Karnik’s special interests are ADHD and autism, and he is founder and chair of his namesake institute, the Karnik Institute, located here in Austin.
