Telehealth Visits for Pediatric Neurology and Rheumatology
Child Neurology Consultants of Austin offers telehealth visits as another way to stay in contact with your child’s physician. The service allows existing patient families as well as new patients to get the care they need when they need it without coming to the clinic.
There will be times when it will be necessary to schedule an in-person evaluation for your child. In these cases, we have three convenient locations in South Austin, Central Austin and Cedar Park.
If you wish to book a telehealth visit for your child with a pediatric neurologist, the process is simple and consists of five main steps.
How It Works
Step 1: Request a Telehealth Visit
Call us at (512) 494-4000 to schedule a telehealth appointment.
Step 2: Receive Telehealth Visit Confirmation
You will receive a link via email or text message from “SecureVideo” that confirms your telehealth visit with ChildNeuroTX.com.
Step 3: Download Zoom
Download the “zoom” app on your smartphone, tablet, or computer before your visit. Click here for more details about downloading Zoom.
Step 4: Complete Online Paperwork and Payment
When you set up your appointment, you will receive a link via email or text message from Phreesia to complete patient registration information online. These documents and payment must be completed before you can enter your telehealth visit. If you don’t receive a link within 24 hours or have any questions, please contact our clinic at (512) 494-4000.
Step 5: Attend Your Telehealth Visit
Follow the instructions provided for your virtual visit on the scheduled date and time.
Telehealth FAQs
Our telehealth service is an option for all patients meeting with a child neurologist or pediatric rheumatologist – existing patients and new patients. We realize that sometimes in-person visits are the best option for your child, and we are still offering those at our South Austin and Cedar Park clinics.
Telehealth appointments need to be booked at least 24 hours in advance. Our office hours are 7:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Telemedicine is appropriate for a variety of care needs such as follow up visits, chronic disease management, medication management, and reviewing test or lab results. If you’re unsure if a virtual visit is a good option for your child, call us at 512-494-4000.
Most major Commercial and Medicaid health plans cover telehealth visits the same way they cover in-person visits. CNCA checks for eligibility and benefits for each patient before each visit. The collection of payment will be set up in your paperwork for your telehealth visit. Payment for your visit will need to be completed prior to you moving into “the virtual waiting room.”
We use a HIPAA-compliant platform called SecureVideo that offers an enhanced layer of security to protect patient health information. While this platform integrates with Zoom, patients are scheduled “inside” the SecureVideo platform helping us to ensure your privacy.
